Title Programs

Philadelphia Public School District has the following funded Title programs: Title I, Title II, and Title VI. The supplement not supplant provision requires that federal funds be used to augment the regular educational program or to supplement the amount of funds available from non-federal sources.

Title 1 funds aim to bridge the gap between low-income students and other students. The U.S. Department of Education provides supplemental funding to local school districts to meet the needs of at-risk and low-income students. According to the U.S. Department of Education, the purpose of Title 1 funding, “is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high quality education and reach, at minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.”

Title II funds teachers to reduce class size plus provides funds for professional development and teacher recruitment.

Title VI provides funding to address the unique needs of rural schools.

The Philadelphia Public School District believes that the involvement of parents and community members is an essential component of nurturing students. Furthermore, the district believes there is a direct link between parent involvement and student achievement.  Every effort to invite and consider parent and community input made to ensure the success of our students.
